I've always really liked the idea of a Ferrari Mondial Coupé in black with tan leather, so I was quite excited when I saw this. However, I'm slightly perplexed by the statement that it "could do with a service". The seller is a highly-regarded dealership from what I can tell, so why aren't they selling it in fully-serviced condition?

mmmm weird. Could it be #

1) being sold "sale of return" so the current owner does not want to pay for a service?
2) The dealer doesn't think there's enough money in the car to warrant their outlay on a major service bill?

Not sure. Can always negotiate it with price to be included?

In all fairness, the only way to really know is to speak to the vendor and have it inspected...

My personal gut feeling, given the wording is:

"Looks immaculate but there are mechanical problems we don't want to put in the advert"

I wouldn't necessarily say avoid it like the plague but I would proceed with great caution and very much 'lead with my head' not my heart!

Give them a bell and let us know how you get on?

Mine too... But I'd expect to see that approach on a private sale car on eBay, not a car at a top-end (from what I can gather) dealership!

I think I'll see if the price comes down a bit first - don't want to be wasting anyone's time with something I'm unlikely to buy. £15k is still quite a bit more than I want to spend at the moment, especially if it's due for the full belts and valves jobbie.

I was looking at that ad earlier.

It's a good price, but the service thing does seem odd.

Macari's looked after my last Mondial, and they're a good bunch, so I'd just give them a call and ask what the story is.

Probably being sold on behalf of, would be my guess.

This is a little tempting also:

That's a low price for a T Coupe. Grade A examples usually early to mid-20's. (Recently sold a pristine T Coupe for 24K)
Factor in around 2K for service & bits, still a low price.

This one would be a safer bet. Low miles and at a Ferrari dealer. A bit more but I would think you could get it under 20k.

I'm thinking maybe the fact that it isn't 'resale red' has affected the price a bit, but it wouldn't affect it that much. Also, LHD cars tend to be expensive these days due to the strength of the Euro, so I can't see that the low price is down to its LHD status.

I would actually prefer a 3.2, but I just hanker after one in black with tan.

T Coupes are last of the line. Only way to evaluate is in the flesh. Correct - I sold a non-red T Coupe recently for 24K. Non-red actually suits these tipos. If service costs are an issue, the 328 or QV versions are cheaper to buy & run. Good luck.
