I have a serious question for everyone. I have to go vote so unfortunately I cannot participate in this right now, but restassured I will check back.

If you knew beyond any reasonable doubt that this was it, you get one shot in life, would you still be doing what you are doing?

I only ask this because I am just so fed up with the same old bull st, senseless routine. Wake up go to work, come home, go to bed, wake up, go to work, come home, go to bed. I just feel like, if this really is it, then why am I wasting my time working 2 jobs and so on and so forth, for what? whats the point? I have nothing, including money. so all I am doing is going to work to pay off my debt I got myself in. but after that, i will be going to work to go to work. where is the point in that? it doesnt create anything, it has no purpose. I just dont see the point in it all. Work around a bunch if puppet fking assholes, all day long. Blind, senseless morons who are only out for themselves. watch the world being destroyed around me.

So senseless, so purposeless. I see no worthwhile point to life. I really dont. I am sorry. Green pieces of paper have literally transformed the beauty of life into a spineless hunt for an iota of happiness. Instead of being around the ones you love and living a proper life filled of gratitude and the such, we are forced by the economic laws of survival to work work work for green pieces of paper to just barely scrape by, unless you are the 5% of lucky fks who are born into money or get lucky and get paid. I look at happy people, and I think, "how can they be so happy? why cant I be that way? I wish I had a different life, I wish I was a different person."

Life wasnt always this way. As little as 50, 60, 70 years ago things were right. Sure, they were just turning for the worse with the advent of an economic boom, the creation of the civilized nation, yeah right. But they were better.

I work with senior citizens, all day. I am a hearing instrument specialist, and they all acknowledge the fact that money and its importance have replaced love and family and its importance. they all see it.

My friends, I was born into the wrong generation. The story of my life is to be on the receiving end of all that is broken.

If this is what life is, then I am sorry but I cry for the world and I refuse to be a part of it.

And for the record, no I am not going to off myself. I just want purpose, and working some job everyday to barely make ends meet, until the day I die is certainly not my idea of living.

If it wasnt for all the hippie BS, I would try to find a commune or something.

It just really sucks. I know I need a get away but of course, cant do it without fear of owing more money to the system and no time to miss even a half day of work for fear of more debt.

The indians and such had it right man. Im telling you. this whole western st really is the devil. every man out for himself. think about it, every time a white man showed up in culture, they raped it, pillaged it, and replaced it with the importance of money and consumerism.

Anyone know where I can get my hands on some psychadelics or something LOL that would be a nice inexpensive trip that would take me away from all this crap without actually having to go somewhere. smile

P.S. please dont attack me. it is just my thoughts. i dont have the answers, so dont ask me "well what you like us to do, revert back to the horse and buggy", i've heard that too many times. But believe me, this "civilization" isnt the right answer, that I am sure.

I don't know. Money buys nice things, which I enjoy, and the monotony of work (aside from today which was ok) gets me the money.

Would I do something else - probably, but then thats easy to say when you dont have to worry too much about paying for dinner or a new suit. Would someone hard up do what I do (sit in an office) for more cash - probably.

The grass is always greener as they say. So stop whining.

this is it mate..........
sit down write a list of all that you want to achieve in life and then get on with it.
It wont be easy. and it wont be cheap. but hell its life. sometimes it sucks and sometimes its brilliant.

in 44 years two things i have learnt.
If it feels good do it.
and if you are not happy then change it.

used to be married and very unhappy... no affection etc.
now engaged blissful and with a man that truly adores me. tells me he loves me every day and gives the best hugs ever..............
even better he is a petrol head just like me.
if life isnt to your liking then change it....

your call.biggrinbiggrinbiggrin good luck.

Here's the thing - your life is like football. I mean proper football, not the limpwristed armoured stuff the yanks run around doing. Now, Football is the game of the Street Urchin. Chavs. Plebs. The Proletariat. Scum.

Rugger however is a manly pursuit. All those muddy wrestles, testicle grabbing and then hot soapy baths in the company of fourteen of the best chaps simply cannot be beaten. How did the world work this out? Once upon a time an upstanding young chap called William Webb Ellis picked up the ball and ran with it.

So if you don't like it, pick the damned ball up and start running. There is no fate but what we make.

I'm banking on living long enough to have paid off my house, bought (and retained) a few interesting cars and have enough left over to enjoy the rest of my life with my family and toys without having to work 5+ days a week.

I've got a taster of that life know... redundant with reasonable package. Although I'm looking for work now, I am living without having to in the short-term and it's great. I look forward to seeing my life out this way.

Plus, having *had* to work all my life until I retire will give me greater perspective about enjoying what's left.

I'm easily pleased.

I DO believe this is it and you get one shot. I've always worked on that basis.

I'm a lucky man, I enjoy my life (including my job).

I do believe this is my one and only shot at life. As such I'm chasing my dreams, taking the risks and opportunities to get me where I want to be. That has included career decisions that some would say were very risky. I might fail, but I'd rather that than regret not trying.

Edit to add: Don't sit on the internet and moan about it, make those tough decisions and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. No-one is going to feed you your dreams on a plate - YOU have to make them happen.

Live to work or work to live.

Having seen my Dad do a job he doesn't particularly enjoy, especially in the last 2 years, has made me opt for the second.

Which is why I am fending off the supermarket's offers of a full time contract with as much overtime as I want. If I do it, I won't ever leave. I may end up with a decent amount of cash and good promotion prospects (one day I too may be an assistant manager!) but I don't really like my job, I just need it to keep me in petrol money with a bit left over to pay off my CDL and save a bit towards starting my own business.

...hold on a minute....today you're a hearing aid specialist....last month you worked for IBM? Last month you wrote erotic stories about Lotus Elises (which cost peanuts and are easily attainable), this month you yearn for an Esprit?
