Not rying to troll here, but drove an FTO the other day (2.0 Mivec GPX) and couln't believe how slow it was (for 200bhp), all in all I thought they were pretty overated, or am I wide of the mark here?

nope you're pretty much on the money, just another car that looks faster than it is.

was it an auto?
FTO's never reach 200bhp, more like 180-190 and they only have 120ftlb of torque, so will never feel fast.
as quick as a civic type R, so make of that what you will smile

I agree in that they are overrated, normally by mitsi fan-boys who have upgraded from a Colt, but can't quite afford an Evo yet..

..Except of course Marco and his Evo engined chop top FTO smile

They have always been under rated imo and this shows exactly that.

The chassis is solid and the sitting position is fantastic.

I own a DC2 aqnd although it is by far the better of the two, if I where to track the both of them I think it would be a fairly close and I would have just as much fun in the FTO.

I hate to say it but it is not as quick as a CTR.

Sorry could have put it better

This thread shows exactly why I think the car is under rated.

Why not add something constructive next time.

That was constructive. Your post, by your own admission, wasn't clear.

I was also disapointed by the FTO also, didnt feel fast to me. Even compared to the prelude Vtec I owned at the time, the prelude felt much more powerfull.

Shame though, as it looks fantastic.

Yep. If only they had made it a 3.0, or turbo charged it frown

Funny you should say that, my Mrs was overtaken at speed in a 30mph limit (which she was already slightly exceeding) through our village just before our house last night by some chav in a white FTO. When she flashed him he pulled in and then proceeded to tailgate her and the pull up out side the house generally tyring to be as threatening as possible to her.

Normally the sort of behaviour associated with Veilside Corsa's, Escorts etc.

I toyed with the idea of getting an FTO. Had to be manual and mivec. I even drove the Version R, but The prelude felt better built so I went on to buy one of them instead. FTOs are a bit plasticy. Seem to handle quite well though.
