Only half way thru the article and I'm asleep. Its supposed to be a car review for gods sake not a warped thesis on sociology! What a load of crap. I really think Mr C is so far up his own arse he has lost sight of what a real 'review' actually is. He trys so hard to be un-politically correct that it just sounds naff.

Have to admit I'am no Brit but one of the first thing I do every sunday morning is to check out Jazza column in Times Online as I do like his way with words on paper. And if my memory is correct the T350C featured in both 1st and 2nd TG serie.
So Jazza must have a softspot somewhere for this Blackpool Bullit.

This article takes a while to warm up but it's hilarious towards the end.

I prefer reading his output that listening to it on Top Gear. He's still one of the finest motoring journos around.

I've always enjoyed reading Jezza. I enjoy his ST articles. Being a bit of an old git, I've read just about all the road tests I want to read. They're all the same now. "Here's this new car. It's better than it's predecessor." When did you last read a test of a truly bad new car? I mean, you used to be able to enjoy reading about the dreadful roadholding of a Volvo, but all modern cars are all the same now, with the possible exception of the RS Focus. Made a change to read about flawed handling there, with it's awful torque steer. I remeber when Maestro/Montego Turbos had the same fault, and the cars got a slating. Ford didn't get the same treatment, for some reason.

So anyway, the fact that Jezza always spends the first two/thirds of his articles waffling on and taking the pi** about something else or other makes him more interesting, IMO. I always have a good laugh.

More like he's taken a back hander.

You are joking surely.
Yes he is funny and yes he can write.
But he knows f#ck all about cars, and he is an appalling driver.

Compared to who, for instance? Agree about his driving, though.

Most hacks are fairly unspectacular drivers. But is that a bad thing? Bear in mind the average driver is merely competent.

Messrs Schumacher can scream around in a twitchy mid-engined beast while talking on the 'phone, but Mr Lottery Winner might become a fireball at the first corner if he unleashes the horses, and might have appreciated the opinion of someone less gifted.

That said, it's also nice to read the opinions of someone who can really drive a performance car - Tiff Needell perhaps. Unfortunately most hacks, once given an outlet, instantly gain status as experts (and believe in their ability), and people rely on their judgments when parting with their hard-earned.

At least Clarkson admits his driving shortfalls. You can't dispute his experience though.
