No doubt the EU response will be forceful and unequivocal: "PLease do park your nukes next to Poland, and we hate the yanks as much as you do"

I think Obama is going to flunk it with Russia and we are going to have all kinds of problems as that dangerous and aggressive country seeks to reassert itself - people who accuse the USA of aggression and destabilising the world will coo and make excuses for the Russians. The rump of the EU is scared of Russia and scared they'll turn the gas pipelines off so appeasement is the order of the day. And through all this Russian oligarchs are busy subverting European politicians and doing what the Soviet Union failed to do.

And Obama is the President-Elect, it's not like he swung by the White House today and Dubya threw him the keys while loading up a U-Haul truck. He will be inaugurated as President on January 20th, 2009. Until then he's still the Junior Senator from Illinois.

Democrats are what the Liberals used to be in this country before they found themselves slightly to the left of the Labour party, and the Republicans are conservatives.

The con for the last 11 years has been to portray the Labour Party as some sort of right wing party when they are nothing of the sort.
