Spencer in G50 Winter Series

Sorry for the late reply.....
The G50 is an amazing car to drive. Very focused. In the limited time I had with the car I think we did very well. At the Snetterton Meeting I had 4 30min test sessions on the friday before the race weekend which started damp and finished dry. I was about a second off the mid year G50 pace. I wasn't happy with that as you would have guessed. So in free practice on the Sat morning I found another 8 tenths to get into the low 1:14's. Much better I thought, but wait.... Christian D managed a low 1:13!!! Moved the goal posts a mile away. So I was back under pressure to find more time. By now we'd played with the set up a little too much and were unable to get much better, ended up with a 1:14.1 and 3rd place finish in the first race. :-) Very Happy.
The Second race was a struggle as it was wet and I had no confidence in the wet setup we'd used. Too twitchy. The car started overheating so I retired.
I went into Rockingham knowing we were near the pace and feeling like I had a good chance. Things were going well and I was showing good speed all weekend and agian the rain came, this time for the first race. I struggled with handling and picked up a couple of places from the spinners and got another podium :-).
The Second Race was dry and after a good start I was in a strong 4th place. My Tyres were coming up to temp and it all felt good until..... The car caught me out under brakes into the first Hairpin. The rear wheels locked and put the car into a slide and from that point I was never going to able to slow the car enough for the corner. Christian was the unlucky bystander I collected ending both our races. He was up for the Winter Series Title until that point. I'm not sure I would have been as calm as he was after the race, but thankfully he saw the incedent as a racing accident. :-(
Over all a great experience and a large dent in the pocket!
