Its up this month and i will probably book in at Power again but i was wondering (as the search function is censored) are they 'difficult' to get through at a normal tester? My cerb is decatted at the mo so obviously would put them back on for it but i remember Mars saying when i bought it that hed gone to the test place with his laptop to get it through? So is it worth swapping them on and taking it just down the road or shall i just take it to Dom and let him do the dirty work?

Mine is standard and took it down to the local place just to see. Was borderline on emmissions, but they got it through after three attempts, keeping all the readings in the green for long enough was the prob.
But it managed with no jiggery pockery so it can be done.

I've only ever tested one and it was a bit of a nightmare to get through the emissions but after a lot of hair pulling I managed it, legally.
The biggest problem I had was that being unfamiliar with where everything is on the cars it would have been helpful if the owner had known anything about his car, sadly he was clueless which made what should have been an easy job quite difficult.

Are Cerbs not exempt from the emissions test? I thought they were?

I took mine to a normal MOT station and it passed first time.

Not exempt, just don't have to meet tight limits.

Just had mine MOT'd at TVR Power. I put the cats back on before I went down. Passed MOT with no problems smile

Took mine to local garage. They spent a few minutes on sorting the emissions. They were surpried by the power of the brakes. Sailed through.

when you write it passed MOT what do you mean? What limits are you having in the UK?
CO max?
HC max?

Picked the cerb back up from Power today after its MOT, they refitted/removed the cats for me fixed the park switch for the wipers and my flickering lights seem to have stopped flickering......not bad for £50! Alls well for another year then, hope its a cheap one!!!!!!! wink

max co is 0.2 for a cat'd car and i think HC IS 200 PPM

it all depends on how nice the tester is there are many ways around the cat issue.

for example if a car is fitted with an engine of unknown year/source all it has to pass is basic emissions test eg 3.5 co and 1200 hc.

also if the tester belives thet the car is a "kit or self build" with parts or unknown year the same applies.

i have even been told before that if its not fitted you cant test it (cat) but not many placces will agree with this one.
