Le Mans from Canada

Morning all

Want to plan a trip to Le Mans next year, however this time around I will be travelling from Canada so no car to use. What is the best way to get from Paris to the track? Will defo use speedchills but need to figure out all the transport issues? Would it be easier to hire a car and drive?

Can I hire a tent etc from speedchills or some other organisation?

Any and all help greatly appreciated?

Get the TGV from Montparnasse(Paris) station to Le Mans 1 hour journey.
€75 and that is first class (even cheaper if you order in advance)

Taxi from Le Mans train station to the track approx 15 min

We had some Canadians with us a couple of years ago and they go the TGV into Le Mans and that was pre-tram so I collected them.

There is then a huge Decathlon store on the Mulsanne, pick yourself up a cheap tent there or see if you can tie up with some folks from here to borrow some kit.

On Club Arnage we have a bit of kit that is kept locally that we use for those that flyover, I'm sure there are people here who can help.

TGV to Le Mans. Tram from station to circuit ("Guetteloup - Pole Sante Sud" for the main entrance, "Antares" for Houx/Houx Annex), stopping off at "Glonnieres - Centre Sud" next to Careforre for supplies.

Hmm thinking of possibilities for getting to Le Mans with no car next year (don't think my 20yr old 205 can take it nemore, lol). Anyone have experience of the first class options on Eurostar? What the meal's like etc?

Food in 1st on the Eurostar is actually quite good (relative to other train/aircraft food anyway). Things aren't so good when you switch to the TGV but you're only on there for an hour so probably won;t need food.

Thanks for all the answers, looks like we will be booking with Speedchills and all their amenities, now just need to ensure that my 2 sons will not be missing anything hugely important at school and we can book our tickets It will be the boys first ever trip to the race so it will be a special time. Look forward to meeting up with all the PHers there.

Just tell your son's schools that it's an educational trip which will allow them to absorb not just French, but European culture and will make them more rounded individuals.

Just don't mention the fact that one visit will lead to a lifelong addiction for which there is no known cure... :-)

They are already hooked on F1 so one more will be good for them. I have no issue taking them out of school for a couple of days for an "educational" trip after all they will see Paris ( fleetingly ) just as long as there are no exams at that time of the year.

As a arcecar fan I went for the first time back in 1999, because it was 'One to check off the list'.
I haven't missed one since and the planning for the following year starts on the Sunday of the race weekend.

God forbid I ever achieve my other ambition of doing Sebring, Bathurst and Pomona ... I'll never be home... :-)
