Can someone please enlighten me as to how and what an air box breather does on a Cerbera? Is it normal for these to leak a bit of oil if the car has been topped up with oil recently?

As I understand it, it uses flow through the airbox to "pull" air from the crankcase to relieve pressure inside the engine. I think the oil collects in a fibreglass catch can.

I guess if oil was overfilled slightly it could leak, and the seal with the airbox doesn't tend to be the best - check the hose is okay though (especially underneath around both end clips).

On my old Cerb it has perished - replaced and no leaks whatsoever regardless of oil changes etc.

The catch can may also be leaky.

New hose here:

Would Silicon do?

You can use silicone but it is a nightmare to get the air boxes off again if you use silicone because you cant get a blade along the lower edge where it will be stuck together. Adhesive foam strip glued to the airbox face is better
