Hello everyone, i'm new to Pistonheads and am hoping somebody out there can help me. I am trying to find out what steering boss adapter I needed to allow me to fit an aftermarket (OMP) steering wheel to my 1998(S) Renaultsport Spider (non airbag model). I was advised that I needed the Clio mk1 boss so I've got one from OMP and tried to fit it. The problems were that it had a metal tab on the bottom for the indicator cancel on the Clio, no good for the Spider fittiment, sorted that by cutting the tab off but then secondly and more importantly the entire boss is too wide for the column shroud and it does not seem to sit far enough down the spline of the steering column. rolleyes
I really don't want to start cutting up the steering column shroud as it not plastic but fibre glass and i'm not prepared to cut it about, also I want to be totally sure that the steering wheel is secure and correctly fitted for very obvious reasons. I think that I was given incorrect advice and the Mk1 Clio adapter boss is NOT the right one for the Spider. furious
Putting it simply, does anybody know if I can get hold of an aftermarket adapter boss that is specifically made for the Spider or will definately fit correctly so that I can fit my OMP Superquadro steering wheel and be happy and smiling again. Spoke to Demon tweeks and they could only suggest the Clio as well, although they didn't know if it was Mk1 or Mk2 i'd need. The GDI Spider owned by Adrian Winch has a Momo steering wheel fitted, so there must be people who can sort me out somewhere out there, GDI themselves were not sure as they didn't do that work. Take it easy all and any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Sticky wink
