The BBC's treatment of Bellamy has been utterly shameful. Well done the Express for giving him an outlet.

I met him a good number of years ago and he always came across as a highly intelligent and caring man. I believe his TV personality was a mixture of his boundless enthusiasm for the natural world and him buffooning it up a bit. Good of him to stick to his beliefs of employing a purely scientific method. I'm with him on this one, the evidence provided so far has not convinced me.

David Bellamy made a mathematical error in one of his articles when he hit the wrong key on his keyboard.

This odious oaf realised what had happened and announced it on a beeb programme in a most nauseatingly patronising manner..

This prompted me to get a George Monbiot doll, into which I stick pins on a regular basis...

Which is nice...

The aforementioned odious oaf ------->

Hardly fair to bring up that smug, self-serving, little prick when I've had a glass of wine!

wavey George! I don't doubt you google your own name.

Anyways, glad to see Bellamy back in some form. More power to him.

Bumped back up because I think David Bellamy's stance and predicament needs more exposure!

What he says sounds spot on to me. The likes of Turbobloke have been saying pretty much the same thing on here for some time now. Surprises me that an interesting subject such as this, which has an impact on all of us via taxation etc was probably hidden away on page 32 and the fact Mr Beckham has a new haircut this week was probably on the front page.

I agree with him that the hysteria behind fighting MMGW is money-generating poppycock, nothing more. But what does he have against wind farms?

I would really like to know if changes in CO2 levels in the atmosphere do cause a greenhouse effect and if that does lead to environmental problems and climate change. I know CO2 makes up a small percentage of the gases in the atmosphere. Is the CO2's impact magnified because it has more of a cloaking effect than the other gases?

Any chemistry or related science PhDs floating about on PH who could explain this? Wading through google results gets tedious in very short order.

Global cooling overall for nearly 10 years, a Dalton Minimum still very much on the cards (two or three decades of even more severe cooling) yet the President Elect is going to save an endangered planet from global warming. FFS.

When will politicians pay attention to observational data and not bought-and-paid-for advocacy groups and lobbyists? If the data changes that's a different matter but it's always been saying that MMGWT is cobbrels.

Sorry that deleted thread got to me

Probably that fact that they generate very little electricity in the real world, away from the test bed. They cost a lot, damage the environment and deflect attention away from the real issues.

To be honest, I have skimmed some of those threads. Problem is, turbobloke was busy refuting point after point rather than being given a chance to explain in one big post the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I started a word document where I started cutting and pasting his points, trying to make a cohesive, whole picture that I could present to my friends. Never finished it. Tried to do the same thing with that BBC documentary, but after 3 pages of transcribing notes, I ran out of patience. I should start it up again, I guess. But if someone has a clear understanding and can present the arguments against MMGW and then refute the more common arguments in one longish post, that would save me a lot of trouble and confusion, and give me something to respond with next time I am cornered at parties and told I don't know what I am talking about and I am in denial of basic science!

I agree, but George Monbotty runs him a close second...

On second thoughts, they're equal...
