Does anybody out there know the legalities around "aggregator" sites - i.e. sites that collate reviews from several sources (other websites) and display them in one place?
Is it a breach of copyright to publish other peoples opinion?
Many thanks.

...wow that was quick.
So how do places like rottentomatoes.com go about it? Do they have arrangements with the content providers?

Probably yes. Or they are risking it.

You can link to the content, but not just take it and publish it.

What about if you linked to the content as an inline frame? technically not publishing it but still displaying the content from your website.

What I had really hoped to do - and I'll use restaurants as an example - was just show a list of scores that other review sites had given the restaurant; None of their copy and a link to their page. That is:

Restaurant One

Site One: 95% (link to site one's review)
Site Two: 80% (link to site two's review)

...and so forth.

It does seem to be a grey area. For example, all the search engines are doing it by caching the content of every site on the web!

Yeah, but nobody minds search engines doing that

But if someone doesn't mind search engines doing it doesn't make it legal?

Apologies - not being deliberately annoying, just playing devil's advocate.
