Has anyone else got caught up with this?

http://www.volvooceanracegame.org/play.php

It's an online sailing game that shadow's the Volvo Round the World race. Create your own virtual boat and try and sail the course. It's in realtime, so once hooked, YOU WILL be checking the wind, your competitors etc every 3 hours!!

Good fun, simple to follow, difficult to win, very addictive! I started somewhat late, but you can start anytime and this is only the first leg!!

My boat is called Reserve Claret if anyone's interested or wants to be 'sailing friends'!

Slightly miffed. Looked at the rankings and some bloody French have finished! Oh well, might as well crack open the grog and try and catch a fish or two.

been playing for several days now (joined after the main group passed Gibalter)

apparently we have till the 15th of November to make it to Cape Town, otherwise you'll get transported to cape town with the max score (tho you can drop your worst 2 or 3 scores over the race so it isnt a problem)

Where are we meant to be going? As your going really fast, but in the opposite direction to everyone else.

Since theres a few of us, i've set up a Pistonheads group within the game, so you can see how you are doing compared to everyone else.

I've sent an invite to those that have put their boat names in this thread (go to 'my account' then 'inbox' and you should see the invite.)

If you want to join the group then message me within the game and i'll send an invite.

Follow the Orange Line south to Cape Town. (game started in the Med, crossed the atlantic to pass the mid course marker then back across to Cape Town.

Thanks for that^^ don't rate my chances of getting to the finish before the 'cut'. Will be wallowing at the back with the rest of the PH Fleet by the looks of it. hopefully we can challenge the French in the next leg - although from their comments it looks like they may be devoting a little too much time on a game, top prize is only a volvo C30 after all!

true, but you win a watch for being first in that leg.

This leg, and the next - the Pro Sails are free from then on who knows (they are the 5 sail options at the bottom)

there are other options to buy - but i havent bothered.
(being racing with another group, we've made an agreement to keep it fair within the group to only use the free options so no autopilots)

winds update at around midday, and midnight each day.
