Hi there

After four years in my chim its gone to make way for a 98 Cerb 4.2 - picked it up yesterday and 'what a car' - its bloody awesome! Imperial Blue (blue/purple colour) with full black leatehr interior and black SP12 wheels, oh, and the loudest exhaust!

The car is registered as C3RBU - previous plates have been R346 PEL, RIL 778 & R666 TVR - anyone know the car? Would be interested in any history, stories, etc.

The seller was honest and told me of a few issues, mostly minor, one of which is the starter motor - I have already read this is a common problem. It will always start, sometimes first time but it usually wirrs and clangs a bit. Looking for a new one i suppose but was wondering if anyone knows if they can be reconnditioned and if so, is there anyone in the newcastle area who can do this?

Looking foward to happy days motoring in the cerb!

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Have fun but be carefull out there, I know you have had TVR's but 2 (including mine) almost 3 cerbs were taken out last weekend......

Hi and welcome, concerning the starter motor i think all units supplied are now reconditioned ones. Go to the TVR Power parts page. They have it for sale, i think around £150 as a p/x with your existing unit or £240 with no exchange.

I love the 'seller was honest' - I would wait until you have ironed out niggles. My honest seller experience with my first Cerb was cracked wheels (- thus causing high speed blow out), bodged oil pressure and the need to rebuild the engine (oh and no cats as promised).

thanks guys

think the car has had 5 previous owners from memory of the v5

as for 3 owners in 3 months....not that unusual...never bought something and either didnt like it or your circumstances changed...? I cant put my hand on my heart and vouch for the seller but he seemed genuine - the credit crunch bit! didnt let this get in the way of my judgement though - still had the car checked, etc.

the starter motor is my first job - will see how it goes...

Otherwise like i said the car is awesome. aknowledge the warnings though - will take it easy
