I am looking to purchase a 355, have done all the research necessary (I think)! However, from your personal experience please guys.

Does or has anyone got a 355 through a single garage door? Do you do it on a regular basis?

I have a garage that inside is a good 12'+ wide but the door to it is a standard single door. The maths say it should go as a 355 is 72" and the garage door is 6'6" (78"). Or am I being naive, any advice please?! biggrin

Have you allowed for the mirrors?

I had a 355 Spider which was a great car.

I believe that measurement includes the mirrors but without standing over one with a tape measure at a dealers (and feeling like a complete numpty) I don't know for certain. Any one care to enlighten me, please? thumbup

I have a single entrance to my garager that I keep my 355 Spider in. Its tigh, but it'll go with an inch or so to spare each side.

The mirrors fold in anyway by the way.

If not then widen it slightly because the car is worth it. I only bought it to keep for 6 months, its now been 12 months and I cant see me selling yet.

Thank you, you are a star! beer That is good news! Am planning on getting the entrance widened but am going to look at some in the next few weeks and thought I'd best check as I wouldn't be very happy to do a deal, get her home and find she won't fit throught the garage door at the moment!! banghead

As you can imagine getting building work done doesn't thrill me but when what look's like the right 355 at the right price comes up, I just have to go see it (there are a couple just recently)! biglaugh

Yip my F355 would go through standard single garage door no problem (not as tight as my CS was had to have it widened as was just to tight for comfort).

It'll be one of the happiest days of your life! I remember the day well when I picked mine up. Was a lovely sunny December morning... still had to have the roof down though! It was suprisingly warm to be honest.

Then when you have it, get it de-catted and a nice new pipes out the back! Tubi or Capristo.

Both cars I plan to look at have Tubi's already! Read the other thread and by the sounds of it (no pun intended) I'll be wanting a Cappy!! biglaugh

Your baby is the perfect colour too! Good job!

With the mirrors folded in, the F355 is 74.9 inches wide.

Thanks Boxer. Have since discovered this measurement too, is it definately with the mirrors folded in? eek

Neil and Jonty, did/do you need to fold your mirrors in when parking, do they fold in easily?!

The mirrors are easy to fold in but they are manual (I never understood why Ferrari does not put electric mirrors on the options list) so if you are using them wile reversing you need to lean accross the passengers seat to fold the mirror.

I did not fold my mirrors in just kept it close to the drivers side so I could see how close it was honestly not a problem you can pull the RH mirror in from the drivers seat easy if want too.
The 360 did need the mirror on one side folded in to get it in and the CS mirrors make the car just that bit to neat that was why I widened the opening for the CS a carbon mirror is VERY expensive!

Cheers

Thanks again Neil, you are most helpful. Was you garage door 100% standard single? How much wider did you make it? Was it a custom width door and if so, how much if you don't mind me asking?

When I first bought my F355 (that I owned for 4 years so was in & out quite alot) I had a standard 6'6" wide up and over door the car fitted no problem without folding mirrors in. What I did do was remove the metal strip at each side of the opening on the bottom 2' as this was sharp (just in case I got it wrong one night) and put a rubber weather strip in its place.
I have since moved house and have standard single wooden doors of the same width so the F355 fitted no problem then got 360 spider had to fold in mirror now CS (which was too close for comfort) so decided to do some mods. This time I was going to get roller door but as house is listed not allowed so what I have done is removed the wooden frame from the brickwork and put hinges on the outside wall added extra wood to the door (to take up the extra width due to frame removal)fitted weather seals to brickwork to keep the heat in. This has given me an extra 8 inches. The appearance is same only hinges for the doors now on bricks (rather than frame) all painted to match in job done.

No I dont need to fold them in, but they do fold in easily enough.

Glad you like the colour, always thought that Gaillo Fly suited the 355 better, especially the spider.

It is my first colour choice although I am flexible for the right car. driving
