So they want ot build it on land near Clay Pit Lane. Where?? There's a bit of car park and some University buildings behind the Yorkshire Bank. More's the point How are they going to deal with visiting cars?? It's ahrdly the nicest area as well so Security would need to be good. looks like somebody has a bee in their bonnet.

It's not that bad there!

I am guessing it'll be underground parking

Part of the idea is to get visitors to the arena to spend more when they come to the city, If you go to Sheffield arena you just go to the arena, see the gig then go home -theres not much around it. By building one in the town centre hopefully punters will arrive early, maybe eat and drink in town, go to the gig then maybe back out on the lash then overnight in a hotel, generating more revenue for local business.

The proposal is to have it where the university building are now. About time they went really, they were run down when I went there 10 years ago!

That was my first reaction too! Removing a public car park in order to build a facility which will requite a huge amount of parking. Mad. As it is being designed by Leeds Council, you just know it will be a vision of concrete mediocrity.

No, that's a back-up second choice. Seems daft to me, it'd have much better access there.

All over the double yellow lines and down narrow side streets. Don't worry though, the buildings politically correct.

Theres recently been lots of 'action' going on at (previously un-used) Junction 45 on the M1 link behind Temple Newsam, I beleive the original plan for this junction was that that whole brownfield desolate area round there was ripe for this sort of thing, even a move for Leeds Utd when they were up in the premiership.

Looks to me when I've passed like they've been clearing up the slip roads/roundabouts for possible opening...?

Yeah, I think it's due to open before Christmas. They've virtually finished all the inner ring road up through Cross Green now, just a few roundabouts to sort and a bit of leveling off to do.
