Next Sunday (12th) is the monthly meet of the South Coast branch of CCCUK and I thought it would be good if we could get a few cars together and bring some of you guys south for a change.

We meet at the Fish Inn, Ringwood at about 12.30 to 1.00. Time for a beer and then probably down to Sea View in Poole where there is a weekly meet of other amercian car owners.

Hopefully the weather will be good and if anyone wants some more info (including directions) you can e-mail me. It would be great if as many as possible can make it.

Hope Santa Pod was good for those that went.

Sunday lunch sounds civilised, could you let me know the best route assuming I'm coming south on the A31.

Directions as follows.
As you reach the outskirts of Ringwood you descend a long hill and then go over a flyover. As you come down the flyover there is a slip road on your left which joins the A31. Immediately after the sliproad is the entrance to The Fish Inn. There is usually complete chaos at this junction so be very careful. The petrol station immediatley afterwards is too far and will require some careful reversing back to the pub. My advice is get over to the left hand lane before the flyover, let people enter from the slip road and slow right down to turn into the pub.
To make up for this, the best bit is leaving the pub when you filter into traffic travelling at 70+mph.

I know that junction, it always has been bloody dangerous ! Is it any safer to turn off at the off-slip before then go straight over as if re-joining the A31 using the on-slip ?

No, not really. Safest way is to turn off before the flyover and come through the town.
I have had replies from Joe, Jason from Taunton-C5USA, Brian from Swanage - XLT 2, and Steve Havelock who owns an exceptionally nice 1993 convertible (purchased from me by the way!!). We could get a good turnout but, of course, it will be weather dependent for most.

Hi, Brian Arnold here -
Access to the Fish Inn can be via Ringwood, but it involves going round and through the town where it is quite easy to take a wrong turning. Basically you need to get to the town centre, then follow signs for Bournemouth which takes you back out to the dual carriageway along a narrow road. Just after a hump back bridge over the river, and just before the dual carriageway is the turning into the pub. Personally I will just turn off direct from the dual carriageway, but slow down well before as you go over the flyover.

Well ive never known such a fuss over a "turn" into a pub carpark ,how about driving up to Brize Norton and getting a RAF Hurcules to drop you in.

BTW, welcome Brian

Nah, that wouldn't work as the car park's not big enough.
Anyway, are you coming along????

RAF Odiham is closer and I'm sure they'd give me a ride in one of their Chinooks !
