Ecc's understanding of racism is difficult to understand. He says that the only reason they were having a go at LH in Valencia was that Alonso is Spanish and the same for Massa/Brazil.

That, I guess, is the problem with defining racism now - Race and Nationality have merged into one thing.

Also, presumably in some people minds calling Lewis a 'Nigger' (God, I really hate typing that word) is no different to somone calling me a 'Shorty'. To them, it's just picking on a trait and turning it into an insult.

That, of course, doesn't make it acceptable though.

I think the typical Spanish donkey-fiddling F1 fan would boo ANYBODY who had a run-in with their beloved Alonso. I think the Brazilian F1 fans were just gutted that their golden boy didn't win the WDC, especially when just over a minute before they all thought he had. Just sour grapes I guess.

I'm surprised that none of the papers footnote the coverage of his comments with the fact that F1 governing body, the FIA is headed up by the son of Britains most infamous fascist...!?!?!?!

I'm sure BE is simply trying to brush this aside as the type of stupid nonsense which occurs on just about every FI forum everywhere, including on here.

The Spanish press could (and may well do) easily mirror our own tabloid headlines with 'Racist Hate Taunts on UK Motorsport Forum'. Its just disappointing motorsport fans can't rise above this.

Don't think there is necessarily any real racism, just a quick descent into really cheap jibes.

Pretty much word for word and sums those people up and their attitudes.
