BMW 850 Surging Problem.

My 850 has been perfectly fine but now has a very noticable surge when driving at certain revs. Any ideas? Im sure it isn't a missfire.

How big is the surge, is it a six cylinder to 12 cylinder surge, a holding back then ok surge or what?

Thanks for all your help and advise. The coil pack for 7 to 12 was begining to give up the ghost! very stange being that there is two coil packs and the 1 to 6 side of the engine was working fine! Managed to get hold of one very quickly. All fine now!
