Which is best

2 door or 4 door is obvious

Which looks best, goes best, has least depreciation, best features or perhaps best fun to drive?

just looking for your opinions

One looks like a big Astra.

One looks like nothing else on the UK roads.

I drive the latter
I've also driven the big Astra in manual and auto form (auto was horrid) and subjectively reckon I could feel the extra weight wallowing around.

I drive a Monaro (or I would if it wasn't in bits) but I wouldn't buy a VXR8. The Monaro is already cheap so has less money to lose which you cannot say about the big Chavstra.

All depends if you need the rear seats, open a door or wait half a hour for the seat to move forward, plus big boot on R8, they both look good in my opinion (I'am not rude about the Ro).....hehe

I love my Ro but think the VXR8 is a smashing car. In white it looks fantastic. Keeping it that colour is another matter of course. Having said all that, depends on your budget. Both are practical buys IMO.

I had a 04 Vxr Monaro for 3 years and then px'd for the vxr8.
vxr8 suited me better,4 doors,seemed more stable.
I keep my cars standard unlike many, and the vxr8 just felt so much bigger.
I loved my Monaro, but given the choice of the two now, ignoring age or price etc,I would have the Vxr8.

You cant get an R8 for less than £20K. You can get a Ro for under £15K. Thats a big difference in price to some of us poor folk Rich

I don't like saloons (except perhaps the RS4) but the '8 certainly drives a lot better than the 'ro out of the factory. Still, given relative values I'd rather the black coupe in my garage over a massive saloon. Horses for courses.

Sometime next year I'm planning to buy a Ro/vxr8 and if I can afford one I'll go for the VXr8. It's very practical (4 doors big boot)and that's important to me with a sprog, but I think the Ls2 6 litre Ro looks the best by a mile.
From what I 've read the vxr8 seems to be a bit more sorted and better screwed together, although they are still very new, so we shall see.

I'm still waiting for the VXR8s to drop to about <£20k. I keep hearing on the news that car sales are down by about half or there about – I am also thinking the dealers will be keen to transfer the any product to cash (which I presently have), so it makes it a buyers market. Also when will 6.3’s (LS3) be appearing on the market - sometime soon?

Coincidently I looked at my 'ro tonight - its still beautiful and unique!
VXR8 might be (is?) bigger, more practical for the family, and handles better, but I'll keep the 'ro!

well I've owned both.

I had an 05 plate black monaro VXR and loved it.

I now own a red VXR8 and its the monaro plus a whole lot more. Better brakes, better gear change, more space, better seats, more refined. I think its a great car!. Complete package!. Mine has wortec SC. Bloody awesome!!!

A nice ex-demo would suit - perhaps in white (you've made me wary of red - attract the wrong attention maybe) Mrs M-J would probably like silver. I've got to locate one first at the right price.
