......but my work colleague managed to reverse the works van into my Ro! It was barely two weeks ago i had it in my local Vauxhall place to get a new door mirror sprayed and fitted after hitting a pheasant! And the first time i viewed the car prior to buying it, it was in a bodyshop getting a ding in the front wing repaired! (it's only got 7000 miles on it!)
The damage from the van isn't massive, but it's still the whole rigmorole of getting it sorted out. And, the best part is i had to work with the guy who did it for 14 hours afterwards! smile Needless to say there was a bit of tension in the air!

ha ha......felt like it! Still, at least he owned up to it - some people would of done it and said nothing. Been to the Vauxhall place this morning....it'll be any easy repair by the sounds of it, company insurance are going to pay for it. It's more the fact that i've only had the car for a few months and it's collection of Battle Scars is rapidly rising! laugh

Hows the colour match?
And can you ask them where they get the paint as it is not available externally of GM - you can't just go to a motor factors and ask for a tin of odyssey blue paint.
You'll be doing all odyssey owners a great service by getting this info. It's a right b*gger to match.

The colour match was spot on when they sprayed my mirror, all they do is go by the colour/paint code that is on the vin plate under the bonnet. They did a good job.

No they don't! its not a recognised colour - if you plug that code into any paint code computer it comes out with a silver colour. The paint is by PPG and PPG do not give out the colour/pigment combination.
So just wondered how VX had the right colour. I tried at a couple of VX "Monaro specialists" and they said I would have to have it done privately - they use external spray shops, not VX.
So you see why i'm interested to find out exactly WHO did spray your mirror!!!!!!

Most motor paint is supplied by one group now due to it being water based and they can match anything. My black metalic was matched perfectly by vauxhall who actually sprayed the car but purchased the paint from this supplier (name illudes me)!

Bloody hell, calm down! smile Sherwoods of Stockton, who are a Vauxhall dealer did it, and i know that he lifted the bonnet and wrote down the code off the vin plate, what they do with the code after that i don't know. Spot on match though.
On the log book, my car is down as Silver! confused

Hi guys,

Got mine done at a superb Bury (Manchester) based body shop, they went off the paint code, checked and came up silver. Obviously, then looked again at the car and said oh ok will sort that out. On visit for fitting, my rear lip spoiler was a perfect match - even after 12 months.

If I ever get any paintwork done I will be visiting them again, great service.

Cheers
Steven

And that just shows how text can be misrepresented!!!!!
Davegreg - wasn't having a go or SHOUTING at you, just stating what happened in my experience. Swordfishcoupe seems to have had the same issue and i know of others who also cannot get paint, so was just curious to find out how you had got the paint??
No arguement intended!

I'd be very interested also as an odyssey owner, I need mine touching up so if they can mix it from the colour code that would be brilliant....although I suspect the cannot. When you get the answer please can you let me know?
