I have this debit card..................

.......for a bank account held by the previous owner of my house. He was a doctor and returned to India or somewhere.

Every quarter I get a statement and another £130 odd a month is paid in. I think it's child benefit. This account now has about £10K in it.

I guess you can see where this is leading. It seems a shame if the bank gets to keep it or what ever else happens to it.

Should i use it? What's the worse that can happen?

Personally i would let the account keep building up to be used only in an absolute emergency situation, or to be emptied if i left the country permanently :P

You should let the bank know he's moved on, and benefits people, as he probably isn't entitled to the money not being in the country and all (not entirely sure on the rules of that) so I expect he would have to pay the government back for it
