Z4 seats and Ellipsoid wheel questions
Discussion
I've seen that Z4's come with two types of seats. Ones that are fairly flat, and almost bucket ones, I think they also come in the M Z4's
I'm guessing they are an optional extra, but how easy are they to get hold of and fit to a car with the flatter seats?
As for the ellipsoid wheels, are they dimensionally the same as the split rim five spoke 18's? Would it be reasonable to see people swap from the five spoke to the ellipsoids and break even!?
Thanks
Dave

The SE seats are the flatter ones you refer to. They lack lateral support, imo, but some people find the sport seats too narrow. I have electric SE seats and the dealer (just out of interest) qoted me £5k plus fitting and bits needed to change them.
The star spoke composite wheels (108s) have apparently some corrosion issues, though they were the same size as the 107 Elipsoids. 108s were the slightly dearer option. Not sure if anything changed at facelift, except most cars seem to have the 108s. Replacement Elipsoids are hard to find I believe, though I've not looked.

Cripes, sounds like I am best trying to find a car with the deeper bolstered seats then, if I find I like them that is (Z4's at all, and the seats
)
I'll have a read over on those forums, but the bosses wife has a Z4 SMG SE and by and large they do seem to be solid cars whichever you buy...
Just I prefer the elipsoid wheels a fair old bit. But if a swap could be on if they are not corroded thats fine
Thanks
Dave
Wow, had a look on that site, the top insurer gave me a quote of £585, what a bargain. 330Ci's and M3's seem to attract premiums getting on for twice as much in some cases. Z4's clearly attract a much more sensible owner

Z4's are a bit a secret bargain at the moment. They are cheap to buy, cheap to run, cheap to insure and great to drive. Any way, every f*cker's got a 3 series, so get yerself a ZED. The 5 spoke 108's seem to be the wheels to have, but do suffer from corrosion. Mine are looking a little less than perfect, but I'll get them re-furbed in the spring, they look so much better than the others,I'd just use it as an excuse to knock a few quid off of you found one to buy.

Yep, I'd looked at them as possibilities at the start of the year a little, but with starting prices being around £14,000 they were just a bit too much. But with petrol prices dropping, very reasonable insurance costs, and what appear to be very reliable cars, they seem like a bargain now they seem to be knocking on the door of £10,000 already.Seems like I need to test drive a few and see what they are like. When the bosses wife goes to trade theirs in if I like the idea of SMG then I will offer them £500 more than BMW and grab what I expect will be a damn bargain (knowing what they are probably offering for trade in at the moment)
Thanks
Dave

The sweetest engine is the 2.5i - sometimes wish I'd kept mine! It had sports seats, M suspension, cruise and top spec hifi. As I said I should have kept it as a Sunday car and bought a daily driver.
The 3.0 is an excellent compromise between the 2.5 and the M. Nearly all the performance for a fraction of the cost. I did try to find a good spec one but bought a Z4M instead awesome performance but the running costs are not for the faint hearted.
I've loved both my Z4's and will be keeping this one for some time. I think the supply will dry up soon and prices will hold for a while - please! Depreciation is weepingly cruel on the Z4M's! But nowhere as bad as M3's.
