No offence but you cant afford it, get yourself a bodykitted 520D. Also, please don't use 'web shorthand'. Most do not respond well to that paradigm.

Then why bother? If you want to make or sustain money why buy an M car or a car at all?
These cars require significant amounts of money, I would suggest you buy an Indonesian st box and travel from A to B.

Learn to spell. Then you can get a better job and afford one.

edit: note to self - no need to be quite so rude.

After the new year, I suspect lots more cars are going to go to the £25,000 mark. Mid-2009 is when you'll see them at £20,000, possibly closer to the £15,000 mark but they'll still have £60,000 car running costs.

What? This kind of soft approach is really not like you (here or on other forums). Are you ill? Pull yourself together.

I like to think we can all be nice and polite on PH and not stereotype people/marques/owners....

However, someone told me recently that the biggest shame about the car prices dropping is that many exotic masterpieces will fall in the the hands of young divs who, thinking they've got themselves a great "street racer" to hot foot around the one way systems of City Centres (Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, you name it), pulling girls and showing off to their mates....

... as they do so the cars will end up with 20" rims, leds and blacked out windows... not be maintained properly as the owner is saving up for a new Rockford Fosgate as "it's standard man innit"..."nah geeze, dat rattle on startup is what dey all do..safe"

As soon as your chosen exotic is getting people asking you questions "in d mbl txt spk cz ets qkr mn n it" and the full English is full of spelling mistaykes...then.... maybe it's time to pack up and go home.... in a C63 AMG ;-P

On a serious note let's hope young Mr 0161 is actually a stand up young fellow and wants an M5 as he aspires to one of the finest sports saloons to ever grace the planet and wouldn't for the love of God ever use it as some kind of fanny-magnet to donut in the McDonalds car park playing Dizzee Rascal.

Answering the question.... all cars depreciate... wait long enough and they reach your price point... the steeper curve due to market conditions will probably continue in to March/April next year in my estimation. The M5 is no safer than any ther premium exotic... be VERY conscious of the fact that the initial purchase price being lower makes the running costs a higher percentage of your intial outlay... just because you can squeeze a loan for a 25k M5 it does NOT mean you're in a position to run one.

Arseman, please don't rise to the argument, well, at least not with a sentence like the one above!

the man is only asking a simple question, he wants to know what the depreciation is going to be over the coming months to get the best deal. how and when he pays for it has nothing to do with you as do the ruuning costs. im sure he's aware its not your average car and maintenance is expensive. as for his grammar, he can express himself how he pleases and if he wants to add stuff to the car (please dont!) he can because it will be his.

Well how do you think the rest of us know? To come on here an ask how much is a given car going to depreciate just isn't that clever is it? How would anyone know?
