Try and cut a long story short here, the purpose of the post is for me to learn WHY and HOW my issue arised, and also WHAT MY PICS show...

To keep it short, I on another forum said -

"Having a really weird issue with the car. At speeds of around 60mph + and geenrally only in 4/5/6 gear (never in 1 or 2) I am finding that if I floor it, on a very small % of times, the revs race to the end of the revometer yet the car slows down. It feels exactly like clutch slip, but, I can't understand why it is only happening selectively. The sensation feels like what would happen if you nailed it away on ice from a standstill and the front wheels spinning up.

It happened today at the more ineresting end of the speed limit in 5th and 6th gear, and this is typically when it occurs. However, once it has happened 3 or 4 times in succession (i.e you back off the throttle then re-apply and it races again) the car seems to sort itself out and things are back to normal, with the car pulling as it should. Most of the time it happens at around the 80mph - 90mph speed and in 5th or 6th gear at that speed.

My dealer says it is fine (but I knew they would as it is nigh on impossible to get the car to do it on demand, it happens so rarely). But the point is, it IS happening and the car is not right... but nobosy seems to want to help.

I phoned my tuner who said that I should carry on driving it and wait until whatever it is gets worse... but that could take ages, as I had this months ago and then it cleared up"

This continued and to the point that the car was inconistent. At that point, I decided it was time to get it sorted. New clutch fitted today, massive expense to me, but justified because now feels like a new car, awesome feel, consistent, fast etc etc. I stalled it twice trying to drive out the showroom.

Tested and believe you me tested properly, and problem solved.

BUT

This is an anomoly. Of all the VXR club owners car's that have been tuned (well into '000's of cars) a small handful have had this issue. Mainly those that have been taken to the POD etc. Some are running over 400bhp all on standard clutch, and have been for some time with no issues. Both VX and all tuners have confirmed the clutch is the last thing that should go.

So it boils down to me, riding the clutch, which I must admit is possible.

These are pics of the old clutch which is now in a box in my garage. What does it say and what should I do with it?

You are getting the slip when you are running at higher torque levels so the clutch is not clamping fully. I suspect that the problem is not driver related, but down to the release mechanism sticking but possibly other issues compounding it. That could be at the slave cylinder, but there could also be a pedal return spring problem. Check every single part and make sure none are missing. This is often the case when pedal return springs break and they can leave a clutch looking much like yours.
