Dear mods...

May I ask why you deleted my whimsical thread depicting Gordon Brown looking browner than normal?

I hope it wasn't deemed racist, as mainstream media carried discussion this week, questioning Labour's reluctance to field a black candidate for PM.

It would be of concern if you pulled the thread in response to a certain left leaning poster who appeared rattled by fun directed at the Labour Party.

Or have I missed something here...?

I was threatend with having a thread about Vista print (its been running for months) being pulled for naming and shaming

despite teh fact it highlights a proven con, a con many here have fallen foul of. So esentially a warning to others not to use a scam company is naming and shaming.

Its like saying we cant call Geoffry Archer a liar

or maybe the mod that pulled it was doing a favour to prove their power in a bid to impress the female membership

I wouldn't call Geoffrey Archer a liar. He may sue you.

Jeffrey Archer on the other hand is a convicted purjeror......

That happens a lot on forums, especially forums with a lot of mods. It is like the mods all want to be the "one" that deletes or locks threads.

However i must add i never seen the thread in question as i only just logged on.

I saw the PS of GB. Just looked like he'd walked out of a particularly heavy session at Tanfastic and been given a fat lip.

Well I commented on the thread and didn't see anything particularly wrong with it. Just a bit of fun. Has there been a humour bypass? Ok so I'm new but still, nothing commented was objectionable.

Oh.. Oh.. Oh.. has someone used the 'REPORT' button again!!! Betcha thats it. phone

Ok, who's gone and done it this time? shoot

I had a quick flick through it. Thought MBH's picture of our 'dear leader' looked more like Mr Patel from the corner shop than any sort of Winston or Tyrone.
The pic of GB "blacked up" for want of a better phrase wasn't as funny as the one on the BBC earlier (HIGNFY) by the Republicans of McCain in a similar state that cause Paul Merton to state that he "looked like something off of the front of a rice packet".

The original picture wasn't particularly funny but there seems to be a growing "I'm not racist but ...." tendancy to some posts that must make the mods nervous.

So are mods now deleting threads before anything objectionable happens just in case? just on the off-chance? Is that it?

nuts

The image wasn't funny so you haven't missed out. I wouldn't deem it racist, just immature.

We all know Broon is a goon, we don't need more images of him floating about the net.

People are entitled to expression, opinon and individualism as long as they conform to what is morally and socially accepted in the culture we're living. Unfortunately it would appear the mods are covering their 'arses' for fear of someone spouting that PH is a racists safehaven. Something I'm glad to say we are not.

Yes. You're not invincible.

Why the antagonism, LA..?

I am curious about the what prompted the mod/mods to react as he/she/they did. If it's political sensitivity, I guess it was due to a complaint by a poster who leans to left and upholding such a complaint is unusual within these walls. If it's a perceived racist problem, that perception is mistaken, given the public criticism of the Labour Party this week.

Why do you have a problem with my curiosity..?

Out of interest .... why do you think any complaint was "left leaning"? There are many people who vote Conservative who do not have an issue with race and may who vote Labour that do. Of course I'm just assuming "race" is the issue here

Antagonism? No, same as others on this thread - playful banter. In any event, either you're intelligent enough to know what you did might offend and took the risk, or you are not. If not, the mods step in. smile
In that case, my apologies, sir. Thought you had been a touch tetchy of late, my mistake.

I had no reason to think I would offend anyone. I have already explained why.

A poster appeared to be a lttle rattled.

He has been known to get upset when we criticise Brown and his gang.
