This is a car website, and we all know about iconic design in cars - the BMW kidney grill, TVR's door line, RR's grill (etc).

But what iconic designs fill your home, and what really makes something 'iconic'?

I will start the ball rolling with 3 designs. Old, middle aged, and new.

Old: What started cartoons.


Middle: Design a juicer?


New: The ultimate MP3 player:

Original iMac:



Set the design cues for everything from kitchen tools to computers for several years.

Also re-defined what a personal computer should look like.

- Fit for purpose
- Functional
- Work every time
- be a pleasure to use
- Satisfy all using parties
- Have a desirability factor
- Have a definite 'call to action'

the stark juicer, iconic looking but terrible for actually making juice.
For me these things are iconic;




the bike in this one, although the cars nice too! biggrin
