Website keywords copyright ?
Discussion
I think this one will be a loser from the start, but worth asking the question.
If a company used a generic name (both on their website and vehicles etc.), could a rival company use those words in their keywords ?
I suspect they can because the name is generic (let's assume "Budget Widgets"), but this being the exact name of the rival !
what are your views on it ?

Yes they can use it in the keywords list.
They can also use it in their search ads too, as long as the words are not registered with the relevant search engine as a trademarked term.
If it is trademarked with Google (for example), then you can still use it as keywords, but not within the ads.
