I put my Sony c905 phonne on ebay last week with the buy it now, or best offer feature. Someone made a reasonable offer but ebay now hide the uder id thats bidding. I accept which ends the auction, he then messages me to say he can't buy mine till he sells his current phone, or we could swap!!!!!

To make matters worse i can't claim my listing fees back till after he has had 7 days to pay.

Something similar happened to me too. The guy who won the item didn't respond for a week, then claimed his daughter bid on it without his knowledge, and then said he would pay in a couple of weeks when his pay went into his bank. What a joke. Reported, got final value fee back, but had to pay to relist the item again. Livid.

There are some real a**holes out there, sadly the internet means it's possible to come into contact with them more frequently than before.

I sold my BMW on ebay. Chap won the auction, no contact whatsoever and didnt reply to my many emails. I contact the next highest bidder and he accepts but for soem reason ebay counts that as another sale so not only do i lose money on the item but i had to pay ebay twice.

Original chap then rings me out of the blue a week later and asks when he can collect, says he was working hence no contact. What a moron, normally when i win something on ebay (like a car) i email straight away to get things moving. WTF is with these idiots? I needed it off the drive and i couldnt risk waiting for him to contact me as the car only had days left of tax and MOT so it had to go.

It's a joke that sellers can no longer leave negative feedback. I've sold a few boats through ebay over the years with a fair amount of success, recently i'm getting tyre kickers galore winning the auction and either not turning up or trying to haggle down on the day.

Leaving bad feedback to these type of people gives you and other sellers a bit of a clue if you're going to be messed around. Any bad feedback related to what i was selling i'd simply cancel there bids.

So true! When did that start? I hadn't ebayed in ages, prior to about a month ago, and could not leave negative feedback to the buyer who had messed me around. It is the only thing sellers had, and now we can do nothing.

I recently told Ebay to shove it after six years,no help when things go tits up,people leaving deliberate negative feedback, being conned,rip-off postage prices etc,etc never going there again, can't stand them!

Biggest mistake ebay have ever made, and they have made loads. Yet again, the system plays into the hands of scammers, jokers and morons, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Execpt stop trading on ebay, which I have done.

Attempted to sell an old car on there ages ago. The winner didnt get in touch. I leave negative feedback, a month later the guy appears out of the blue, complains that I've sold the car and leaves negative feedback.

I now only buy from it, and only from shops that use it as their front end.

I think its time Pistonheads set up an ebay alternative. An auction style section to the classifieds.

It's a shame it's all gone tits-up, it used to be good being able to sell any old tat so easily. They didn't crack down on the scamming quickly enough and have ended up with these knee-jerk policies which have completely fked it for everyone.

I have an old phone to sell at the moment but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle.

Absolutely. Honest sellers get -ve FB unfairly but dishonest buyers have a 100% record.

I think I may have to start again as a dishonest buyer...

It's all gone horribly wrong since the feedback change. Now buyers are just mucking sellers around safe in the knowledge there can be no recourse from the seller.

I hope all those people who were in favor of the change are now eating their words!!

Yep, I no intention to purchase anything from eBay again.

Days of good bargins are gone, and no recourse for sellers.

I used to sell things to Post Offices. You could tell EBAY had become the largest pikey tat market on earth when there were literally queues of doleites in Post Offices, clutching bin bags full of Ebay parcels to send out.

Just tried to sell my iMac on ebay and its not gone well! Winning bidder didn't contact me for 5 days, so I agreed to sell to the second high bidder for cash as he was localish. Just about to go and see him when winning bidder pays me by paypal, but uses and e-cheque which takes 10 days to clear. He emailed me and apologises for not being in contact so i give him benefit of the doubt and tell the other guy that I really should sell to the winning bidder.

Get another email from "winner" telling me his payment should clear by 5th Nov, so could I send it then? Paypal tell me it will clear on the 7th so I tell him I'll wait until i have cleared funds.

Very early on he 7th he emails me to ask me if I have posted computer. At 11,00 I get an email from paypal to tell me his payment bounced......no further contact from seller despite several emails from me!

Second bidder no longer wishes to go ahead..... banghead

That sounds very annoying. This is what happens when people allow retatrds to use computers.

It's quite clear he was trying to get the goods for free.
Well done for standing your ground, and waiting for payment to clear.
