As with all things Insurance many factors come in to play. Another thing to consider is that spending money could save you money.

Using your car for commuting greatly pushes up the premium. Many people on here will quote low figures for fully comp. insurance but this is almost always not commuting use.
If it is your only car consider buying a banger for commuting so the TVR becomes a second car. The money saved on the insurance will probably pay for the banger. There will also be other times when a less glamorous car might be a preferred option as well - you might not always want to leave it parked "somewhere".

Keeping it garaged can also bring the price down.
If you don't have a garage can you rent one nearby. Again this might pay for itself with the reduce premium and would be better for the car.

Although it seems to defeat the object limited mileage can also help. If the Tiv is a second car mainly being used at weekends look at mileage limits e.g. max 3k, 5k or whatever.

The other trick is only give the basic details first to get the initial quote then start exploring the options i.e. limited mileage, garaged etc. to see how much they knock off for each one.

Hey Justin.
If your over 25 (and use your t350 as a second car) try Hagerty. Thats who I'm with, very impressed with there service and price. I was getting rodded also for being a younger driver. Hagerty all the way.

I'm with Hagarty too- £400 on my cerb. As stated above though, they'll only cover you as a second car.

By the way, even though they say they only insure over 25's on their website, they really will consider anyone. I got the above qute at 23.

One thing they told me on the phone was that i can use it to travel to work every now and then as they understand the nice weather is no guarantee in this country so understand that when its nice i may feel the need to take the car to work to 'show off' laugh

Haha! Same thing they said to me. Well, to me they said, if we find a claim from you having ditched the Cerb in 3' of snow a mile from your work, then we'll start asking questions! biggrin

Good info! Been wanting to show off the P&J to a few collegues, but was always worried I'd be invalidating my insurance by commuting in it. Thanks. thumbup

I'm mortified by the cost of insurance for young drivers.

Its the only thing good about reaching grumpy old man status !

Anyone with Haggerty had a crash and claimed, if so did it effect your premium very much??
