Some roadworks have appeared on the A287 between Farnham and North Warnborough. Not unusual I hear you say, but ...

* in the North Warnborough direction there is a 30mph limit, whilst

* in the Farnham direction there is a 40mph limit!

This is a single carriageway with a 6' (2mt) ghost island in the middle, NSL otherwise.

The limits appear to be properly posted (but whether there is an 'Order' for them I don't know.

Anyone else ever seen such a thing?

I have an island??? COOL The pistonheads island dream starts in... erm... hampshire.

Oh well, nothings perfect

Aside from that, I thought the speed limit on the same piece of road had to be the same each way??

I have noticed this on many roadworks in the Nottingham area.

It appears that the contractors don't care less about putting the signs up correctly. There was one roadworks where the north trafic was 30 and the south was 60 for 200 yards!! Although this has been fixed now (possibly after complaints), there is still an overlap of different speeds for 20 yards.

I wonder what the case would be if you were caught speeding here?

there is a road near me, heading from Ryton to Newburn road that for many years was 40mph heading towards Newburn and 30mph leaving.

Fixed now I think.

gh0st - many thanks for claiming the island as your own. Now that you have identified yourself, Hampshire CC would like to pass on all accrued bills and otehr accounts for the maintenance of this island and other ghost islands in Hampshire. Please supply your banking details (via this Forum will be quite satisfactory) and a debit of GBP 769,482.82 will be applied for the past fiscal year.

Travelled the road this morning and there were temporary traffic signals and one-way working with a non-compliant 40mph limit posted.

This evening the roadworks were gone.
