Going to be very interesting this year!

Lewis Hamilton - youngest ever F1 World Champion - but some love to hate him? Could he win a public poll?

Chris Hoy - triple Olympic Gold medallist - but in a minority sport, is he mainstream enough?

Joe Calzaghe - undefeated and a fresh winner, but been baulked before. - edit - whoops! Forgot he won it last year!!

Any other contenders?

International personality: Usain Bolt or Valentino Rossi

Chris Hoy *should* win it. Triple Olympic champions don't come along very often.

Lewis Hamilton *will* win it.

ETA an outsider - Mark Cavendish.

I agree that he'll win it, but not all of them have.

Damon Hill won it in 1994 and he didn't even win the Championship that year!

Chris Hoy would be my choice but Lewis will win it. Non-mainstream vs. ultra mainstream!

Calzaghe has had a better year this year than when he won it last year (even if RJJ is bit over the hill), having said that it has to be Lewis.

Chris Hoy for me. Lewis has done well, but Hoy getting 3 Gold medals is something else. Adlington's 2 is impressive, but Hoy looked a class above anyone else in his sport.
Joe Calzage has done well, but he won it last year and has performed well twice this year, but Hoy's achievements have been greater (in my view)

Of course, it's about a sports personality, so perhaps none of them are worthy and it should go to Joe Kinnear?

Lewis will win it and deserves to imo. Lewis will be world champion again, but to do it now and break the record of youngest ever now as well, means he deserves it.

Adlington will come second and will win it another year - maybe 2012?

Chris Hoy 3rd.
