Anyone know where i can get hold of a set of Recaro Speed seats? I've got an MR2 Turbo, and i understand that in the later revisions, they came as an optional extra. I was after a set of original ones that are the all cloth versions. I've had a mooch about the MR2OC which i'm a member of anyways but nothing yet, also ebay but they all seem to be the newer massivly expensive ones. IF anyone had any knocking about from a project or something that they weren't used in or anything like that i'd be willing to travel a fair distance to get them. Or if anyone knows of any of thier mates who might have them and be looking to sell them?

I really need these seats!biggrin

I've got a rare set of half leather Recaro Speeds in my car and they are an excellent choice of seat. I guess you know you'll have to pay out £400-£500 depending on condition and if they have the subframes?

I got these for £380 with frames which was a steal. Keep looking, just if you see them on a forum, don't mess around they go in seconds literally.
However they are worth it just for the extra comfort. Never get backache in them, which was a constant problem with the adjustable standard seats. Could never get comfy.

Good luck!

Really? I love the standard seats, love the lumbar adjust and the fact you can wind the bolsters in to hold you into the seat.

That's exactly the one's i'm after pretty much! Although the half leathers maybe a bit pricey for me. TBH I'd be quite happy with the full cloth versions. There is a set on eBay that i'm watching but could do with a bit of a re-trim. Do we reckon it would look utter poo with home made leather patches on the worn bits? Tastefully done mind.

They look spot on in your car aswell! Thanks for the help mate.

im in exactly the same position too!!! used to have a ek9 type r with the red recaros and loved them, i dont think there is enough support in the standard mr2 seats at all, the ones on ebay are well worth it seen as they have the sub frames as well and the damage isnt too bad, easily repairable.

As above, the ITR has them too so its always worth trawling the ads on there for anyone selling a set, and get them recovered? They do them in black as well as the red of course. Again, you'll still have to pay a good wedge for them...

Slightly worn, not torn and the bolster is still very firm. nothing that a bit of boot polish will not sort out. smile

Don't know what it is with multi-adjustable seats, had it with the Mk1 too, bad backache to a point I wasn't wanting to drive for long distances in them. Yet can get perfectly comfortable in our Fiesta and Vectra seats which have hardly any adjustment. Strange.

the biggest problem being that people tend to over adjust lumbar support.its for support, not to put pressure on your lower back, thus putting pressure on the rest of the spine.memory foam in these areas would be a much better solution now and is used in many top end office chairs...

There is a set for sale on the GTR register if anyone's interested? Not mine by the way.
They've never been used either.
