Fiat 500 Abarth - - more actual images
Discussion
So today I find myself passing through rural Switzerland on my way to another meeting, I notice I am running low on fuel and stop at a small garage literally in the middle of no where.
After I have filled the hire car up I go to pay and while paying I notice a small garage over the road and they only had a blooming Fiat 500 Abarth. There were also 2 Alfa Mitos but these were behind glass and even though I tried the images I took did not come out well (dammed camera phone).
The Fiat looked brilliant. Much lower than I was expecting but very aggressive. I was happy to see the seats are alot more pronounced and supportive than on the standard 500 but still along way from been described as bucket.
The colour was the off gray/light blue and it suited the vehicle well. As your an see from the images the wheels look the business and set the car off really well.
Roll on the new year.

Glad you finally got to see one in the metal mate, we've been looking at pictures for months, now I just want to see one so I'm very jealous.
Went to Italy a month ago and saw one in busy traffic but as I was driving I couldn't get a proper look at it. Never saw another one except the little models I bought in a toy shop. Did have a MiTo as a hire car though so it wasn't all disappointment.
Have you folks seen there is now a dedicated Abarth forum? http://www.abarthforum.co.uk/

Does anyone have a link to full options list?
Check out the Abarth forum, there is a thread running that has a discussion on likely options. The white pearl paint is pretty steep, or at least at a guess its pretty steep, as UK option prices aren't out yet.
That forum is pretty good as there is a dealer who regularly posts with upto date info, obviously its in his interest but hes a nice chap and is happy to share what he knows.

Have a little play one this....
http://www.abarth.it/configuratore/500.htm?$BLANK$
It's in Italian, but even if you don't know Italian, you should be able to work through it to get a feel of what the options and costs are. Some options will be standard on the UK cars, some will not be available.
Option prices for the UK will be very similar to the GPA, or equivalent Fiat 500 prices.

Andy, the Essesse is the one fettled that bit more, right? How much more?
I believe there is no official UK price yet for the Essesse kit but prices batted around range from 2.5k-4k GBP therefore 3k would be a good guess. This will bring the 500 Essesse in around 16k and personal opinion will tell you if this is value or expense considering the metal that is available for 16k right now: (insurance factors not taken into consideration)

I am bias but as said above lets see what the future holds for this little gem. I can not wait to drive it.
Its £4200 fitted on the Punto, so its far from cheap.
Sure, for the money there is faster stuff no doubt, I think the standard car is (or expected to be) very well priced if we assume a starting price of £13,500. I guess the price reflects the fact that its factory approved, just like a Works kit on a MINI.
PS, using used examples for the money isn't strictly fair, at that price your talking about Clio 197s/Cups, which are cracking value for the money and do make the 500 seem expensive though.
I guess the market will decide if they are priced correctly. I think the standard car is, but it remains to be seen how sales pan out over the next year, certainly there are no discounts to be had on the Punto as yet, and given demand for the 500 I'd say it unlikely to be any different with that car.
