Did not know where to post this so thought here was as good as any !

I am looking to get a projector and screen installed for my local football club.... Nothing expensive but does anyone know what the sort of costs involved are and weather they are a good idea... or would it be better to get plasma screens, more expensive i know but easier to install

What do you want to show on said projector?

There is a vast difference you see between projection for presentation and projection for moving image.

Its for the local football club - I doubt he wants to show the latest powerpoint presentation of the club's accounts - more likely just men running around in shorts kicking a pigs bladder around wink

We bought one for the pub from Dell. Cost a grand with a pull down screen and is very impressive, pub isn't that dark but picture quality is very good and bright.

Saw one in Nuts magazine the other day that was te size of a mobile phone that projected an image 60" wide! I can imagine the quality is a bit pants though.

Picoprojectors, they're quite smart really, especially for sales/pre-sales types.

Got a budget in mind Tricky?

What have you got running to the projector?

A single coaxial + power?

Can they play movies? Think it would be an awesome investment, think it was £250. Laptop and a projector the size of a mobile now that WOULD impress your mates.

No, they're very limited in what you can use them for.

Strictly a mobile presentation device but they've replaced kit that was still far larger than they are.

Doubtful to be honest but then I dont know whats available at that budget level, as we're quality focussed, I dont think we could even supply a decent fixed screen for £500.

Just go straight to AV forums smile

More accurate, more knowledge, better information, wider range of information and most likely easier if you use the search function.

You will get a projector for less than £500 but you need a screen or project it onto a white wall?. Its going to look a bit pants especially if the rooms bright and you want a bit picture.

£480 delivered from www.dabs.com for a HD ready projector and this pop up screen - that would be fine i would have thought...

People will tell you all sorts of reasons why this and that - all I know works for me

Well that and I buy quite a few of these each year for a living....

You'll get something for that kind of money. Also I'd try the projector screen paint and find an empty wall - border it in black and bob's your uncle.

The last thing you want in a football club (if anything like rugby clubs) is expensive screens and PJs to get damaged - IMO. benefit of the screen paint is that it can't get torn or creased and if it gets mucky you can just repaint it. Get the special paint though, not dulux matt white!

Do you have Sky HD or freesat HD? If not then there is little point in buying a HD projector and a good secondhand SD will do the job.

You'll do it for £500 IMO, it just won't be super flash, but still watchable for footy.
