need a bit of advice. Am in need of new discs all around and do not really know what to get. Details -
- 2004 111R
- Pagid RS42 pads
- standard brake hoses
- road use only, but occasionally spirited.
Any pointers greatly appreciated

thanks

Personally, I would get these:

http://www.eliseparts.com/shop/index.php?main_page...

They served me very well on road and track with RS42's. Rears are still going after 3 years and fronts didn't look too bad either till I gave them to gooby.

I'll probably change to an ali-bell set up after I've worn out my existing discs. No real reason (I doubt I'll notice the decrease in unsprung weight but they look good!!).
At the mo I've got EBC grooved and spotted and they should be fine for your use at around half the price.

If you're only using it on road then get some EBC's. You'll not notice the benefit of ali-belled ones (weight or price wise) if you're not tracking it.

Ding to the grooved and spotted ones, EBC GD1190's and EBC Yellowstuff pads seem perfect for 90% road use 10% track imho.

Tipper, are you still using the yellowstuffs?

Tony I also have a 111R, 2005MY. You don't need to spend massive money for road use, standard hoses should be fine, just use super dot 4 fluid. Nothing wrong with Pagids though but they're twice the price iirc.

Agreed. 42s are probably overkill for the road also but they are fantastic, IMHO.

I run 42s and ultimax ebcs and are fine for my mix of fast road and track!
cheers

Yep. I rate them ahead of the Mintexx 1144. Possibly not quiet as much bite from stone cold but fine once warmed up (and I mean warm as in road use not track hot) and without the tendancy to grabbyness that the 1144s can have. Far less (and friendlier!) dust too. I think they work better on track too.
I'll be putting RS42s in next to see how they compare.
The thing to bear in mind is that my comments are purely subjective. I've no idea what their absolute performance is like.

Be interested to see how the Padgids compare to the yellowstuff. My second outing to a Donnington track day recently, the yellowstuff simply blew me away, the braking power from 120 was so strong it was starting to hurt my shoulders on my harnesses. Really was extremely impressed. Could not imagine needing any more braking power. They were not as good on the first visit but they were very new at that stage...

Depends on how long you are planning on keeping the car. The ali bellied are initially expensive but that cost can be clawed back because when they wear out you just replace the rotors not the belly.

They look good and feel good!

Have run 42s on EBC Discs for the last couple of years, work well and both still going strong after 20K miles, too. They don't cost that much more than the rotors and bolts for ali-bells from what I recall, either.
