In the event I were to ditch my current separate deals what's worth looking at - BT vision, Sky, Virgin, etc, etc

We ditched Sky as soon as possible after the 12 month contract.
Now with Virgin,
Not good.
Sky was worse though.
4/10 = Sky
4.5/10 = Virgin

Have been with Virgin for nearly a year now. A few teething problems to start with, but they quickly credited the account. Broadband is 2mb which is fine for us as we don't download loads of video etc.

Quite happy with the service received and I'll see what they offer me to stay with them once the year is up.

Works for me. smile

Get a good range of channels, pretty much same as Freeview but the ability to record them like Sky+ is brilliant. No monthly charge either.

The broadband is pretty nifty, can get full reception all around the house and have had little or no downtime in the past year.

The 'HUB' phone does it exactly what it says on the tin, just a phone which is free to use on evenings and weekends.

For the price, don't think you can beat it.

HTH.

I moved house with approx 5 months remaining. I spoke to the cancellations dept and basically told them I was moving, and asked what they could do to keep me as a customer even 12 months ahead as I would be agreeing to a 12 month contract by purely transferring services. They discounted each element and I will try again next July when it comes up to 12 months.

Good broadband, much better then BT line type. TV not as good as Sky but that's not a priority to me.

I've been with NTL/Virgin for yonks and never had a problem.

Three months ago I was given tv, broadband (10mb), and phone for £27.
However, when I do need to call Virgin their customer service is really, really bad.

We're with Virgin.

So far so good. Signed up with them, they gave us a date to install and on that date they came around and installed a couple of boxes with flashing lights on them.

Internet is good. 10Mbit, and on a speedtest I got 9.8Mbits. Which is quite good.

Used to work on the BT Vision THD (left January), the idea was a good one but there is quite a few issues which BT and Microsoft were looking to fix, every update they carried out the more issues it seemed to create.

one downside is BT Vision uses QOS to restrict the speed of the internet when watching videos on demand, 1.5 meg for the VOD and .5 for the internet.

Could go on but i'm sure most people are not interested in the workings of it.
