When I had the front end resprayed in it's original colour, I got a small touch up paint as a spare pot for stone chips etc but lost it. The guy who sprayed the car is no longer trading. How do I find out if my car is a standard colour and what it is?

Jes

oh I already tried the dealer that originally sold it and they don't have the details.

If you don't have a code then most decent paint suppliers should be able to match to the car. Could you take the engine front cover panel in somewhere?
Not sure about round your way but local to me I have used Morellis in Enfield and AM panels in Leytonstone in the past.

My son who works in an accident repair centre tells me that professional sprayers have a colour camera which provides the digital input for a program that lists the closest matching colours that are used on cars. Pick the best match and there will be a recipe for them to mix up that colour by mixing so much of each pigment used.

I had trouble getting touch getting my paint identified as the code did not seem to match the paint on my car - went to Halfrauds on the off chance, and they came up with the perfect match.
Got a good sized bottle for less than a tenner, where as last one I got from a dealer was a nail polish size for £20!

the code will be on the bottom of the plate where the chassis number is. it might say body code.
