For a while i have had this annoying rattle/clunking noise inside on the left behind the rear passenger seat.

I have removed the rear seats and done some exploring and even padded out the rear, but the noise is still there.

Today i removed the fuel tank cover and looked in there and couldnt find anything that was loose or causing this problem ,the only thing i did find was the rear suspension end. How would i know if this was coming from the suspension.

If not where else could this be coming from, anyone heard/had similar noises...

I know its quite silly but annoying noises like this drive me crazy, if i cant fix it myself who would be best to explore this for me?

Many thanks in advance guys

there was an issue with something in the front seats, cannot remember details as its a few years since it came up. Some cars were effected with it, hopefuly one of the old hands will remember it. I found a different rattle cured by plugging rear seatbelts in

hard to tell and it is annoying when a car has a phantom noise like you describe. Of course, you have checked the locking wheel nut haven't you?!?

Does it only do it when you corner?

If it's a clicking sound when accelerating/braking/cornering my money is on the crappy seat backs. I had to have a couple of attempts at fixing mine. Google for it on the GTO forums or look at my previous posts.

If it's as I describe you need to remove the back of the offending front seat (the bit with the map holder net), which is held in by a couple of disposable plastic clips you'll need to replace. Then you'll see a huge pile of badly made cheap white plastic which passes for the guts of the seat - something in there will be clicking away. Apply gaffa tape as needed.

It could be the mounting for the top of the suspension strut. The rubber could of worn through and be rubbing on the body work. This is hard to diagnose without taking the strut off.

I have taken the rear seats out and been driving around without them and the noise seems to be coming from behin the metal sheeting covering the fuel tank

Last nite i cover the suspensions rubber end to try and muffle if but if looks as though its not coming from there.

It almost sounds like two pieces of metal grinding together..
