Yes, this is a crazy request, but there is method in my madness....

I trying to find out the widest possible wheels that are available and that would fit a standard Cerbera. However, when I say fit I mean bolt onto the existing assembly. The actual width I need is as wide as possible for the rears and something appropriate for the front.

This is for my speed 12 project and as such the overall width of the car is much wider than a standard cerbera, however a donor cerb rolling chassis will be used as the basis for this project.

Ideally I would like to obtain a set of duff wheels with tyres on of a size that can be replicated with a new set later.

OK,,, I'm asking too much but you never know if you don't ask.

What diameter

I run 19 x 9.5 rears and 19 x 8.5 fronts.

You can get 10's on the back but needs body mods.

Also the offset you chose will have an effect on what width you can fit.

I'm also running 9.5's on a Cerb. I'm probably not explaining myself very well though. What I need is much wider wheels for a project car based around a Cerbera chassis. One of the issues is finding some really wide wheels that fit to the Cerbera assembly and I mean really, really wide, as in Italian Super car wide... One worn out set is ideal to work with to be replaced by a new set later on in the build.

I have some 10x18 wheels spare? ET 37

By the way cerbera speed 12 wheels were only 10x18 or 11x18 in later years. The extra track was gained by the wider chassis and suspension components.

What are you looking to achieve with these rims?

Aston Martin use the same pcd set up, I've got a set of Kahn RSV on my build, 9x20 on the front and 11x20 on the rear. Offset is 25 front, 20 on the back, fit surprisingly well no inner rear wheel arch modifications needed.

So you can just buy the kahn rsv wheels for an aston and they fit straight on to a cerb with no mods needed? or is it a bit more complicated than that?

The wheels will bolt straight on the hubs with the correct centre locating rings supplied but no they won't fit on a standard cerb without body mods. My project is slowly going forward, I'm not spending much time on it as I've had an extension put on the house so that's got to be done for xmas. I would put some photos up but I'll be honest I've ended up using a RV8 500 lump and I can't be doing with all the negativity that seems to go with this type of modification or destruction in some eyes. In an ideal world the ls would be a better option, there's nothing saying that it won't happen in the future.

Simon- I couldnt give a crap what engine you use- its your car mate! smile

I remember that you did have a 4.2 AJP kicking about before- how come you didn't want to chuck that back in?

Thanks mate, if only everyone had the same opinion, that would be boring though. I still have the ajp in the workshop that I must get in the classifieds, I'm just not a fan of the engine, never seen such a compact v8, a fine example of engineering but I just can't be doing with the warm up routine everytime you use it, if I take it to work by the time I get there it might just be at the right temperature.

I might just have to post some pics now.

Why have you gone for such a large wheel? Is there plans to change the engine at some stage or are they just an enhancement to the looks?

I do think that the AJP is a great engine and I hear what you are saying re warm up - it isnt really a commuter engine. The LX series engines are my fave option as an alternative. I think the old Rover V8 is a step backwards though. A lovley engine in a cobra replica or a classic sports car (Griff etc) but not right in a virtual supercar.
Each to their own and respect to your ability etc.....
The wheels do sound rather bizarre and chavtastic though.

As for the wheels Mike, yes to both your questions, also I needed something with a low offset to suit the arches that I'm going to make up, I love the rollcentre gt car from years back like many others of you, I've got a local fibreglass/carbon fibre firm that love doing things like that, they're quite happy to help me out. The wheels aren't bling, I've seen alot worse examples.

I wouldn't say they're chavvy wheels (at least no more so than loads of aftermarket wheels I've seen on other cerberas)

What about the Ultima forum, they use stupidly wide wheels and might be able to help.

OK - I agree. For a Khan wheel they are not quite so drug dealer as usual ! Not sure what they will do to the handling etc

Unless you extend your wishbones the car is gonna drive terribly.

Wide wheels with a high negative offset will put huge amounts of strain on the wheel bearings and have a massive effect on handling. The same will be true of normal offset wide wheels running spacers. How much wider do you think the tub is over the normal Cerb?

You are correct it is very difficult to get all the ducks in a row so to speak. Every item on the car effects every other item. I'm not even sure if it is a speed 12 anymore. My arguement has to be that it is a car that TVR could have built had they asked their customers... [contentious comment i'm sure] Also the car will have a higher ride height and it seems a set of 20" wheels will look and probably work better. All I really need now is a set of rough old wheels to use during the build. The final wheel requirements will have to be worked out later.

cheers
Graham
