Doh, overtaken by a BMW
Discussion
Someone found this on youtube, a small snippet from Cadwell last Saturday. Damn BMW, but look where he overtakes...

And you can see my brake lights are working (sometimes

Hi
I was driving the M3 in question. I apologize if a couple of my overtakes were a little on the aggressive side.
when making the first overtake i tried to slow it down as much as pos so the driver of the triumph would have time to see me.
I was trying to put a couple of quick together after a very stop start day.
I have to say, a yellow ultima (or similar piece of kit) on track is always a car that others will put their cars and themselves up against. this kind of thing happens at trackdays every day.
For the record, my car has standard dampers, falken 452 road tyres, standard engine, full interior apart from rear seats. so its far from a stripped out racer.
I dont think its a trackpig either, its my favourite toy and it does its job. ;-)

Hi teabagger, please understand that I was not trying to start anything here. Yes the first overtake concerned me a little but the reason I posted here was to show my Ultima being overtaken/followed closely in corners but then the power to pull away, all be it in a straight line.
It is the only footage I have of my car from Saturday and people here always want to see a bit of Ultima on track, so many thanks for that.
By the way was the guy in the Skyline a friend of yours?

This is all fine by me. This is a car forum and we are talking about cars. If i post something on youtube, i would like to think it will start a discussion somewhere.
I dont know the skyline driver. he has posted a couple of vids on you tube also. strangely enough, he also didnt like my overtake on him!
he was quick on the straights but slower in the corners than me. why he does not let me pass so he can continue with his drift session is beyond me!

Yes, not particularly good driving there from the BMW. Probably didn't even indicate.
Trackdays do tend to give people an attitude of, "I'll f*cking do that XYZ if it's the last thing I do.."
Love the way you made you point and just dropped him in the back straight though..
Yeah, because it takes so much ability to nail it in a straight line......

"Funk" said he loved the way you made your point by passing him on the straight, but i'm struggling to see why there would be any need to prove a point that's all.

interesting first post??im new to the site but know this track quite well as im a local trackmaster. after watching the link, i realise that 'TRACKPIG' has pulled some dubious moves, but what boils my BAG is when you have people in more expensive 'TOOLS' who just refuse to let quicker pilots past because they are in 'far inferior vehicles and couldnt possibly be quicker'...BO**OCKS!!
this type of track behaviour makes me....

Such articulate contributions and the eloquence is astounding. More! More! Bravo
The delivery of your post leaves me breathless and the undoubted talent pours through with every syllable. I sir, for one, await any further contributions with baited breath.

DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr??

2 posts and youve already made so so many friends here

just chill , some of these guy might have expensive toys but like anyone on the track they would like to keep them in one piece........
it does not matter if you drive an your Ultima or your robin reliant, no one wants an accident, just some fun

I dont doubt the BMW driver can handle his car nor knows the track very well but its a track day for everyday cars to have some fun....If you think people should drive like that, organise a race and you can all plough into each other all day long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

then

then

then

then we can all enjoy the track days again...
Its not a race

Looks like good clean fun to me
If all agree in the briefing that taking in the inside without invitation just prior to a corner is OK, then yes, I agree. If not, it's no fun at all.
It's an age old question. Got done several time like that at Silverstone by a white 997 GT3 RS with black script. After the first time I was prepared for the next time and just put it down to the driver not understanding what 'overtaking on the straights by invitation only' meant. But that first time could have had a very different outcome.
This is taking nout away from the M3 chap. That is some demon driving on what looks like a very scary track. And when you commit to a move you have to follow it through. But we all know that first move is not allowed under Jav trackday rules. Ask Colin.
