Quick Legal question, just had my life threatened over phone
Discussion
Is this actually an offence?
My phone provider can't provide transcripts of what was said, but can confirm to the police that a call was made from that number at that time.
I have the guys name and address etc as he is a known customer.
Plod are sending some guys over in a minute to take a statement and just wondered what the implications could be for this piece of s
t - I have females working here alone and cars parked up at all hours of the day, so a bit worried.
Thanks

He's also a local dealer, and he's used our cabs a couple of times for 'drops' that I wasn't happy about...
Do I drop him in the sticky brown stuff then?
Can't you just tell him that you don't want anything more to do with him then?Do I drop him in the sticky brown stuff then?
I mean if he's really a dealer, he isn't going to kill you, it makes it more difficult for him to make money.

Unless he's mafia, or you're a spy, isn't calling the police in a bit of an overreaction?
NoIf something subsequently happens at the office, and I haven't followed the correct channels, I would feel terrible. I'm not always here. I'm not having someone speak to me like it in fairness, there is no reason anyone should take abuse like that.

t you'll have worse happen than just verbal abuse to deal with.Plus you'll end up with less business.

The legal response is to mnake NO response directly to him, whatsoever, instead call the local police (not 999) and have the incident registered. For future occasions ensure you have a witness, and, or, the call recorded. Do you have a phone with caller ident on it? If he repeats the offence, and you repeat the call to the police he will, in time, be called in and cautioned. That might douse his ire.
Already dialled 999 as he told me he was on his way...I wanted them to know what had happened in case it got nasty and it was my word against his over physical violence. My thinking was that it was pre-meditated... dunno, I'm not a lawyer
