So why don't I get the promise of tax cuts, why isn't the government looking to give me more money?

I'm a single guy in a relatively well paid job, I have a mortgage (well two in fact), I commute to work on a daily basis, I shop in local shops, i'm addicted to gadgets and cars, I have a few savings, i'm not up to my eyeballs in debt.

Give me more money to spend and I promise I will go out and spend it, i'm more than happy to prop up the economy in any way possible. I'll even be happy to give you a written guarantee that if you give me a tax cut that saves me £100 a month, I'll go out and spend that £100 on absolute crap, I'm even happy to spend that money on crap that is just a phase or wont last, so that I have to spend the same amount next month on even more crap.

But no, go ahead and give your tax breaks to low income families, who will only go and spend it on necessities, saving as much as possible when they can, or give cuts to the elderly so they can spend it on "fuel" to heat their homes so they don't die. They are going to die soon anyway and dead people don't shop...

We need more people like you. smile

Unfortunately, I'm not in the same situation. What with almost every home owner buying second properties to rent out at a time when younger people can't get mortgages so rent can be kept artificially high, I simply haven't got any spare cash.

Surely they are doing you a favour? They are taking the depreciation of 2% a month so you don't have to

Simply spending money isn't the answer if all you buy is manufactured goods from overseas.

GB (Great Britain, not Gordon Brown) made its money originally by buying raw materials and selling finished goods. That way you get the profit. All that the last 10 years have seen is a net cashflow from West to East.

Don't worry, I am more than happy to buy British, in fact I would go so far as to say that I will buy British first, and when that breaks i'll then buy something reliable from the Far East, that way I cover both scenarios.
