Anybody seen this? Looks like a modified M series shell to my untrained eyes... It is worth saving?

It's an unfinished Saiga shell. The Saiga was a failed attempt in 1989 to replicate an M-series car, by some ex-factory lads in Poulton-le-Fylde.

Not worth a bean, as far as I'm concerned.

The one on eBay appears to be a convertible shell. They finished two cars, the red coupé and a white convertible

Technically, it's not a TVR although an M-series shell formed the basis for it. The shell, nor the car, isn't mine and I don't know the seller, so I have no spares or other bits for it!

Tony, I'm sure in these troubled times, Trevor Bee could point you in the right direction if you really wanted one.

You know that the running gear was from a Mk3 Cortina, don't you? tongue out

You shall be able to view at Sparty headquarters Tony. I have bought the shell for Melly for x-mas.

John Simpson likes its purity of line as well hehe

Colin, I have a demand for these to be used as a novelty ride at the travelling funfair. I would try to upgrade them to Austin Sheerline running gear and fit them with the nose off a Siva Saluki....then they'd be a proper car!

Stop taking the piss. This is the basis for Johns new replica Griffith.

have just been talking to Howard Bryan and as a prototype of even greater rarity than most we feel that a Goodwood entry in 2009 is a distinct possibility.

It won't be particularly fast but I believe it is 4" wider as per Peters 5000M racecar.

It also has much better aerodynamics than Johns M so should be quicker in a straight line.

Looking forward to the project which I am billing as the one after the last Blackpool built Car smile

Right then. The Saiga Mellytet has arrived back home with me to save for posterity.

I have been in touch with Lord March who is up for this piece of TVR History to have a run at goodwood next year

The car will be run in historic trim.

Interestingly Peter Wheeler thought that the dimensions this car has as appropriate for his racing 5000M and has built himself a replica of this car.

I collected the shell today which has been cut and sectioned into 4 and sits on a modified 3000M floorpan. The body is still actually sitting in the floorpan mould.

So there you have it. If you believe owt you read on Pistonheads, A car in America with only 6 built is worth $250k. being that this is the 3rd unbuilt it has to be worth $400k of any yanks dollars.

look out for it at a circuit near you soon.

biggrin
