The cable is one piece with the pull handle. Bycicle brake cable wont work. replacement is about £15.00.

That said, it’s just a Bowden cable.

Restoring a TR6 some years ago, I went down the breakers and found something suitable complete with handle and bracket. The other end I sorted with solderless nipples. The whole thing was dropped in using a different route.

As the original was badly made and poorly routed this often broke. The Audi one I used was better made and other owners copied me.

One of the things I have dreaded with owning a Griff is that one day the bonnet cable would break.. Hasn't happended yet.. and probably won't (ever noticed how things you fear never happen!!)

Anyway.. IF it did.. how the heck would you release the catch to open the bonnent???

No Seriously IIRC someone in the past said you have to get it up on ramps/axle stands and fart around getting to it from below....God only knows how as it sounds a nightmare...Maybe a small intelligent hamster would help....

Couldn't get anywhere near it from below in the pit. Managed to pop it by using a wire coat hanger modified with a loop on the end. Got the new cable fitted tonight too. Job done. thumbup

I bought a bike cable and was going to attach it to the catch and drop the cable down onto the bottom chassis rail, then cable tie it to the chassis as a back up.
Was going to do the same in the boot, attach to the solenoid, and the cable would sit in the panel behind the drivers door.
Not got round to it yet though.

There is a way, as I worked out last year, but I'm not too happy about publishing it for all to see.

If anyone is really stuck, please PM me with your contact No. and I'll tell you how.

In the meantime I would strongly suggest that you take a good photo of your bonnet lock so that, in the event, you would know what we were talking about.
