Clutch slave, gone :( where to get fitted in South?

My slave cylinder has gone, im getting some work covered by the AA, will be doing clutch at the same time, as gearbox is off. Where to go though? The usual suspects unless others suggested? RG, Fernhurst, APM? Anyone that has had theirs done recently care to comment on work done.

Also thinking about going for the RG light weight flywheel at the same time, anyone had this yet?

Thanks just saw that and emailed him, not sure if they are of benifit though?? Not like they dont rev freely anyway?!!

true enough....they're not cheap but there is a considerable weight saving which you WILL notice when driving - the rev's drop away a lot quicker and pick up is faster. I haven't got one fitted but have driven cars with them on and I reckon it is quite noticeable.

What was the price for labour etc? KNow the slave and clutch are pretty much fixed price parts?

Are they really that good Andy? I have read nothing but praise on PH. My second clutch is getting tough again...pffff... I think I may as well go for the RaceProved too. Is that Clever Trevor?

The uprated clutches (master and slave) from Raceproved, TVR Power, Racing Green etc are all improvements over the original AP design - to minimise spring/finger failures etc. I went for one of the original Raceproved units (bought through Clever Trevor) myself.

The lightened flywheel is a separate cost/upgrade. As I said, I haven't got one fitted (yet) but I did notice a difference to RG's T350 when I drove it with one of theirs fitted. I wouldn't say it was an essential upgrade but if you are having a full clutch replacement and you have the funds then it's worth doing at the same time I reckon.

Just my opinion, others who have them fitted would be more qualified to comment....

Sorry I cant say what the costs were. Jason did some other work on the engine throttle bodies amongs a number of things.
I know he "looked after me" as the slave cylinder failed after he had finished all the other work so it was one of those unplanned jobs.

As one who took this option, and got an uprated lightened flywheel, I am happy I did. It took a while initially to get used to the greater "feel" and bite point, but after a short while, find it more responsive. I think the additional cost was c £325 for the flywheel/fitment, although as this was bundled in with other work, I may be slightly out. Work done by Racing Green.

Just posted about clutch fitting recently and an issue with one of the named suppliers on the forum. Drop me a mail and I'll let you know the details as I'm not happy about it from a 'reputable' service joint in the south.

Had a lightened flywheel fitted by Racing Green whilst getting a new clutch recently. If you are having the clutch done I'd recommend it (and Racing Green BTW)

Not a transformation by any means and perhaps slightly lumpier at low speed but definitely more responsive when you push on. First time I gave it a bit of a rev when it was warmed up was hilarious also - even made myself jump!
