Good find mate!! Only seen the finished article!! If I'd have seen that earlier I would have given him a ribbing about it.

wasn't that the video where he compared the Ultima and Marcos in the wet? If so, it's as P says, from the 80s not when all you experts got your ultimas......

That is from an old Top Gear/Fifth Gear (about '99 or '00). The car was the original blue demonstator. He complained a bit about some understeer but that was about it. The circuit was wet and he never explained that the set up could be adjusted to suit!

Hi Guys, Paul is correct, it was the first GTR (the original prototype/demonstrator) built in 1999 and featured by Tiff on Top Gear in 2000! I'm now the proud owner of this very first GTR. You can find all the details under members cars. Despite Tiff's out takes, I'm pleased to say the gearbox seems fine, with the slight exception of changing into 5th from time to time? You can see the finished copy of Tiff's Top Gear feature at...

Unfortunately, the car has not seen daylight this year, as I've had the heads off to test and recon, heads are sorted, sealed, new guides/seals, refaced and refitted, just got to finish off fitting the rockers/inlet/carb/distributor, service it etc. etc. Then I've got the enviable task of sorting out the electrics - one or two issues there I'm afraid? All being well, it'll be on the road by next spring - good job I'm not in a rush!!! Hope to meet up again with all you Ultima PH'ers some time next year.

All the best, Trevor.
