Audi A5 2.7 Tdi - anyone got one?
Discussion
Don't know about the 2.7 but have been driving the 3.0 TDI (6 speed manual) the last week, covering 2000 km on the motorway with 180 kph cruising and it returned 7.5 - 8 l/100 km, which would be about 35-38 mpg. Well impressed by that engine, and that is said with my own car being a 5 litre V8 (E39 M5). If he can stretch to it, get the 3.0!
Sorry seems I was wrong in that post, got the 2.7 mixed up with the old 2.5 unit. As Tame Technician correclty pointed out it is infact just a smaller (and newer as it happens) version of the 3.0.

I don't know the exact mpg figures however I think the 2.7 is a bad choice for the A5. The 2.0 and 3.0 TDIs are much more modern with a better drive and suit the car more. The 2.0 has 170bhp so its not going to feel a great lot slower than the 2.7 and will return higher mpg and cost a lot less to run.
Not sure how the 2.7 is less modern than the 3.0, they are the same apart from the capacity. But agree driving the 3.0 for any length of time, does make the 2.7 feel very flat in comparison. Havent seen or driven a 2.0TDI but assuming its the same as the new A4 they are quieter than the old PD engines, but doesnt feel as fast. As stated before money stretches 3.0.Edited by Tame Technician on Thursday 13th November 23:51
