Hi all,

Picked up a BMW 330d for my mum weekend before last. During the test drive I noted the steering wheel was not dead straight. The salesman gave me some cr*p about the camber of the road etc and that they check all cars thoroughly. As we were nearing the test drive, I decided to leave it.

Anyway, I drove it properly last weekend and found things were not right. Dropped it by a local main dealer and have been told the nearside front wheel is "badly buckled".

What to do? I have told the sales manager and he is to get back to me on Friday. I am not sure I am happy if the car has led a tough life beforehand. Moreover, what else have they not checked properly? Has this damaged the suspension etc?

Would this be grounds to return the car, even if they agree to replace the duff wheel?

Generally you have only a few weeks/around 1,000 miles to reject a car - so the longer you leave it the less recourse you have. In this case, I suggest you pay your local dealer (or a BMW specialist - try the BMW forum) to give it a full inspection and then make a decision based on that.

Hopefully the wheel will be the only problem and you can then negotiate with the dealer on that and have peace of mind.

Good luck!
