I have started to get the 3000S ready for sprints & hillclimbs next year. One of the decisions I have to make is the radiator. The car is originally a low radiator car & I haven't had any problems with cooling, but the rad needs attention so which is best, low or upright rad?

The S will be driven to & from events so will be doing at least 4000 road miles a year as well as about 15 events.

All advice welcome.

Any chance Campbell could translate his post into English? A few capital letters, some much needed punctuation and the correction of multiple incorrect spellings might make it intelligible to us mere mortals..........

Adrian does do a larger low core radiator, I had one a few years ago, never had any overheating problems, used the car on many trackdyas/sprinting/hillclimbing, however it does take longer to warm up due to the increased volume of water.

My Theory is that a cross flow radiator is better than a top to bottom, rad for cooling.

I do know that a Griffith / Chimaera rad with fans in Alloy is a relatively straightforward fit.

Mr simpson may be kind enough to show a picture of his race car which has a natty radiator fitted.

Sorry, I dont have any phoots, but the rad is from a 500 Chim, mounted at aprox 45 degrees to the vertical. 74 degree stat fitted which sometimes opens...runs at 65-70 and is still sat there after a 20 minute race.

Thanks for all the advice, and especially the picture.

Linda, it makes a change to see one of your pics without it being of me spinning a TVR. You always seem to know where to stand.

Oi! is a working class street-level subgenre of punk rock that originated in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s.

The music and associated subculture had the goal of promoting unity between punks, skinheads and other non-aligned working class youths (sometimes called herberts). The Oi! movement was partly a response to a sense that many participants in the early punk rock scene were, in the words of The Business guitarist Steve Kent, "trendy university people using long words, trying to be artistic...and losing touch".

Hmmm....... this overheating issue - you are talking about the cars aren't you? Otherwise I would think that that fitting Adrian's larger radiator might require an overnight stay not to mention the problems in finding an exact match of coolant.

Sorry to go off on an obscure tangent but ProAlloy have the plans for an oversize 3000M radiator.
